Children and Youth Ministry during COVID-19

TBC Children and Youth Ministry during COVID-19

Introduction

Children and Youth Ministry thrives on face to face contact, from 1-2-1 to groups and so Social Distancing as a result of COVID-19 will have a big impact, but it does not mean that we will lose all contact. This note explains the measures that have been put in place within TBC.

Safeguarding

The heart of Safeguarding is that the needs of the young person come first and the TBC Safeguarding Policy and best practice still applies, in fact as we move more into the virtual world there can be an increased risk that means we need to think very carefully about what Apps to use and how. Our Safeguarding Policy has been updated and is on our website, section 5.6 deals with e-safety.

Two by Two

Although Two by Two sits under the Children and Youth Ministry in our communications it is a parent and child group and has been moved to the Families Ministry. Hev Scorah and Sally Heath will oversee support, with the existing leaders.

Sunday Morning Groups

Although Two by Two sits under the Children and Youth Ministry in our communications it is a parent and child group and has been moved to the Families Ministry. Hev Scorah and Sally Heath will oversee support, with the existing leaders.

Pre-school and Primary School (Creche, Bubbles, Splash, X Stream)

As there are no face to face Sunday church services these groups will be unable to meet with their leaders and, bearing in mind Safeguarding best practice, all contact with young people will be via parents. Hev will maintain contact and produce material to use for the duration of COVID-19, and, in particular, will use the new “Families of Thornbury Baptist Church” Facebook group. Content will be ready to use by 9am on a Sunday morning so that it can be used before or after the 10.30am TBC service.
